We have provided below the latest laws of the game as published by IFAB (the International Football Association Board). Match officials, coaches and players should make themselves aware of any relevent changes for the 2022/23 season.
Note that the laws for small-sided football cover a wide range of formats and each league can adapt to suite the players involved. For those managing younger age groups, please also see the guidance on the Retreat Line, which the BCGFL applies to all games at age U10 and below.
In May 2012, The FA formally ratified some of the recommendations of the Youth Development Review. These amendments to the youth game can be found below in age-specific booklets below. These explain specific modifications to the Laws of the Game, and identifiy the maximum formats recommended for each age group. For this season the FA have produced a new guide, also available below, which includes playing format, match lengths, player game time, pitch & ball size & competitions.
